Vail Mountain to Host Warren Miller Legacy Day and Spring Events
 
VAIL, Colo. – March 19, 2018 –Together with Warren Miller’s family and friends, Vail Mountain will honor the late Warren Miller by hosting the Warren Miller Legacy Day in Vail on April 7, 2018. The day will include a commemorative ski down Vail Mountain and a legacy celebration.
 
Combined, Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek Resort have appeared in 28 different Warren Miller feature films. The first film to feature Vail was the 1962 feature film, Around the World on Skis.
 
Saturday, April 7, 2018
  • Commemorative Ski Down Vail Mountain from the top of Mountain Top Express (Chair #4) to Mid-Vail | 3 p.m.
  • Legacy Celebration at Sarge’s Mid-Vail | 4 – 6 p.m.
    • Live music and guest speakers
    • Cash bar and appetizers for sale
    • All guests must download Gondola One to Vail Village at 6 p.m.
  • Legacy After Party Celebrations in Vail, Lionshead and Beaver Creek Villages | 3 p.m. – close

At Vail Mountain #SpringIsEpic and there is a host of events lined up to prove it. 
  • Pink Vail | March 24
Join Vail Mountain for the biggest ski day to conquer Cancer. Enjoy live music, deck parties, costume contest, Celebration Ski Down, kid’s zone, food and prizes. All ages and abilities are welcome and you don’t have to ski to participate. Funds raised benefit patient care and survivorship programs at Shaw Cancer Center.
  • Sol y Ski | March 26 – April 6
Vail ignites Semana Santa and Pasqua with two weeks of non-stop events and entertainment throughout the village and on the mountain. From family programming and in-store shopping events to live concerts during Spring Back to Vail, even our youngest guests can celebrate in style. Vail’s Sol y Ski events include an après pool party at the Four Seasons Resorts & Residences Vail, late night happy hours and cocktail events throughout town, putting a chic spin on one of Vail’s liveliest times of year.
  • Spring Back to Vail | March 31 & April 15
Spring Back to Vail will return to Vail Mountain for two weekends of celebration this year. The first weekend will kick off on Saturday, March 31 with a live concert at Solaris presented by Bud Light. The World Pond Skimming Championships will commence on Sunday, April 15 for the second weekend of celebration with on-mountain and après events.
  • Taste of Vail | April 4-8
The Taste of Vail is the nation's premier spring food and wine festival. During the annual four-day event, upwards of 5,000 people are able to "Taste the Vail Valley lifestyle". Participants at the Taste of Vail experience the Vail Valley's world-class restaurants, fine wine, along with interactive seminars, auction and dance, the Colorado Lamb Cook Off, après ski tasting and the popular mountaintop picnic sensory extravaganza at the top of Vail Mountain.

About Warren Miller: Warren Miller was a ski icon and filmmaker. Over the course of his career, Miller produced over 500 action adventure films covering numerous outdoor pursuits, most notably, skiing. He was an avid skier, surfer and sailor. Miller passed away on January 24, 2018 at his home in Orcas Island, Washington. Miller is survived by his wife, Laurie; by his sons Scott (Melissa) and Kurt (Ali); by his daughter, Chris (David Lucero); and his five grandchildren.
